In the latest installment of “Bill Murray Movie Night,” Federal Hill beer bar Brewer’s Cask is showing Wed Anderson’s witty 2001 redemption tale, “The Royal Tenenbaums.”
Set in Harlem, the dour comedy about a dysfunctional family dealing with what turns out to be a made-up health scare for its patriarch, Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman), has remained a cult classic since its premiere 17 years ago. Beyond its all-star cast, which also includes Murray, Ben Stiller, Owen and Luke Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Anjelica Huston, the film remains a crowd favorite for its absurdly dark humor. It also possesses the added charm of storytelling in novel form, being based on a book that, as far we know, was never written.
Brewer’s Cask is offering free popcorn and canned beer specials (starting at $3) throughout the screening, which will be happening in the upstairs bar.
