The Baltimore Ravens made waves Thursday night when, after selecting University of South Carolina tight end Hayden Hurst with the 25th overall pick, they traded back into the first round to take versatile University of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Both picks serve different needs. Hurst, who will turn 25 before the season starts, immediately provides quarterback Joe Flacco with another weapon. Jackson, meanwhile, is the heir apparent to Flacco, and his explosive speed may tempt the Ravens coaching staff to bring him into the fold sooner rather than later.
But all those questions will be set aside Saturday afternoon as the team holds an NFL Draft festival that includes autograph sessions, player appearances (including Jackson and Hurst), food trucks and more. The team will announce its late-round selections live from the Inner Harbor.
Also scheduled to appear are current players Flacco, cornerback Marlon Humphrey and tackle Ronnie Stanley, as well as former Ravens greats like tackle Jonathan Ogden, running back Jamal Lewis and wide receiver Jacoby Jones.
