What better way to prep for the biggest football game of the year than to watch a bunch of kittens duke it out on a miniature gridiron?

The Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) in South Baltimore and Baltimore Humane Society in Reisterstown are inviting all to come pre-game for the Super Bowl by watching the fifth annual Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel. Both shelters will screen the furry mayhem at watch parties today at noon, along with more than 500 other shelters around the country.

BARCS and the Humane Society are sweetening the deal by waiving all adoption fees for cats and kittens all weekend. This has worked as a national push in the past, with more than 10,000 felines adopted as part of Kitten Bowl promotions.

Both local shelters will also be giving away prizes.

BARCS will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., while the Humane Society will be open from noon to 6 p.m.
