The first speakeasy cocktail bar is coming to Federal Hill.
The Wurst Bar, located inside Crossbar Der Biergarten will have a separate, unique entrance accessed through a big cooler box door, offering a completely different experience from the popular beer garden.ย
The 22-seat mystery bar will feature pre-prohibition style craft cocktails and light snacks like olives and almonds in a โdark, moody designed, very speakeasy-esqueโ decor theme, as owner Kevin Curley explains.
The location will start with 15 core cocktails including a french 75, champagne cocktails, and an espresso martini that โcould be the best martini recipe in Baltimore,โ according to Curley.
Long-time chef and owner of RegionAle American Sandwiches, Kevin Curley partnered with Leho Poldmae, owner of Neo pizza and Crossbar to bring a different concept to the South Baltimore neighborhood.
Curley, who lives in the Federal Hill area says, โAfter Bookmakers Cocktail club closed (due to the Covid-19 pandemic) there was a void for a good cocktail spot. We wanted to try something new for the Federal Hill/Locust Point community.โ
The Wurst will open on Friday, August 12 and its hours are Thursday and Sunday 4pm-12am, Friday and Saturday 4pm-2am.
