Baltimore City firefighters responded to a fire at the West Baltimore home of Congressman Elijah Cummings on Tuesday morning.
No one was inside the rowhome on Madison St. at the time of the fire. According to WBAL, a fire department spokesman said the one-alarm fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. An aide told the Baltimore Sun that Cummings was in D.C. at the time of the fire.
Cummings has long lived in West Baltimore, and was frequently out in the neighborhood during the unrest that followed Freddie Gray’s funeral. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
