My favorite fun fact about Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin: He drives a Prius with a Guns don’t kill people–George R.R. Martin kills people bumper sticker.
Baltimore nerds are rejoicing at the news that Martin, the creator of the wildly popular books that inspired the wildly popular HBO series, will be making an appearance at Balticon in May. Balticon is the region’s biggest sci-fi convention; 2016 marks its 50th (!) anniversary. A number of other big sci-fi names will be making the trek to Baltimore for the event, which takes place May 27-30 at downtown’s Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, including Gene Wolfe and Larry Niven.
Uber-GoT fans will want to snap up tickets to the Feast of Ice and Fire on May 26: For $1,000 you can get a ticket to a special dinner with GRRM himself, as well as a “handmade textile dragon” and a special custom-etched goblet. (Or you could just register for the regular event.)
