It doesn’t get much more summer than this. School is out, the solstice is behind us, and how about that heat? This weekend, stay cool indoors, or get out and embrace that humid air we know so well. Here are a few ways to do it.
Stay cool but get messy today at the Maryland Science Center’s Mess Fest. Kids are welcome to make all kinds of messes– whether as part of an art project or an obstacle course. Best of all, you don’t have to do the clean up.
Free outdoor films abound all summer, as usual. Tonight, you can catch Jurassic Park at 9pm in Center Plaza. Bring something to sit on, and some cash to get your dinner from local food trucks!
Tomorrow night’s Groovin’ in the Grass concert at Ladew Gardens will feature the Trinidad & Tobago Steel Drum Orchestra. Bring the whole family for a laid back evening in the garden.
If some summer shopping is in order for your upcoming vacation (or just to stay looking and feeling cool), Green Spring Station has tons of sales all month long. Check out Bare Skinlabs, Bijoux, Misha Boutique, and the rest of Green Spring’s amazing boutiques for awesome deals through the end of the month.
With or without new duds, you can also join in on the Great American Camp Out. Families across the country are camping out this weekend to instill a love of the outdoors in their kids. Join the fun in your own backyard or at an organized event, such as the one at Cromwell Valley Park. Here’s to summer!
