It’s Christmastime and time to get to Halcyon House! A bountiful array of gifts awaits: chunky necklaces, stylish roomy bags, elegant scarves, spiffy umbrellas, chic coffee table books, all you need for the tree, the table, the bar and more. And don’t forget to stock up on savory or sweet treats for your favorite hostess, or grab some for yourself to have on hand for guests.
Visiting Halcyon House feels like entertainment. There is always so much to take in, from the artful way they arrange a tabletop to the glorious way they decorate the tree! Incidentally, it’s a great place to take out of town guests, not only for a glimpse inside the store, but also for the beautiful drive. Just looking at Halcyon House is fun, but bring your plastic. You’ll want a few things, guaranteed!
It’s no wonder the selection stands out. As owner Jonathan Gargiulo told me, everything in the store is something both he and co-owner Stiles Colwill likes and would have in their own home or buy for their own friends. It shows.
See some of the stand outs below…
Eat, Santa! Delicious treats and more. From left to right: toffee covered nuts, red hurricane lamp – sold as a pair (also in green), decorative tabletop Christmas trees, small platter, Heritage shortbread, Toffee to Go in dark, milk and white chocolate (it sold out last year!).
For Her: Fabulous faux jewelry for your favorite femme. From left to right: double strand pearl necklace with gold pendant, small blue and white Chinese porcelain vase, pounded polished brass bangles, coral and crystal bracelet, chain link gold-plate necklace; gold-filled hanging earrings; pearl and gold-filled earrings; gray pearl and gold-filled earrings, blue lapis and ivory inlaid boxes, multi-colored scarf.
More for her, the horsey set. She’ll be ready for races! From left to right: Equestrian silk scarf, canvas tote, orange leather gloves, orange and blue repetitive motif wool scarf, umbrella.
Still more for her. Every girl can find room for another handbag, and the green ostrich leather one, pictured above, has been a best seller at Halcyon House this season. The bag is really two bags in one — a smaller detachable handbag lies within — and comes in seven colors. The store still has plenty in stock, but they are going fast. From left to right: needlepoint cow pillow, wool scarf with beaded embellishments, taupe pearl and gold choker, taupe and black wool gloves, faux cheetah scarf, striped umbrella, ostrich handbag with orange gingham wool scarf (sold separately). Many other colors and patterns of scarves and umbrellas in stock!
For Him. Pocket knife and jewelry tray.
Ties, scarves, cufflinks and more in stock, too.
For the interior design lover. Assorted books from top designers including Mario Buatta, Michael Smith, Bunny Williams and more.
For the hostess of the mostest. Don’t show up empty-handed. You’ll be sure to be invited back with one of these charming gifts. From left to right: Pine-scented Christmas guest soaps, bulbs in acrylic boxes – wrapped and ready and tied with a decorative Christmas bow, Rigaud scented candles (Rigaud started the scented candle craze, Stiles says, and you can only find them in Baltimore at Halcyon House),
As always, Halcyon House stocks the most beautiful decorations for the tree. You must stop in and feast your eyes upon them!! Click on the image for a closer look.
