Gilman to Host 12th Annual Cultural Arts Festival Sunday, Feb. 8

Gilman School will host its 12th annual Cultural Arts Festival on Sunday, February 8, 2015, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Old Gym. The event is free and open to the public, sponsored by Gilman’s Diversity Committee.

The annual event aims to promote understanding, education, and respect by showcasing art, history, music, customs, entertainment, and food from various global cultures represented within the Gilman community. Dozens of different cultural exhibits and ethnic foods will be featured. Entertainment will include Chinese and Turkish dancing, a Blue Dragons Martial Arts demonstration, a Masada Tactical Israeli Combat demonstration, and more.

The performance schedule is as follows:

1:30 p.m. Parkville High School Steel Band

2:00 p.m. Turkish Song & Dance

2:15 p.m. Bhartnatyam Dance

2:30 p.m. Masada Tactical Israeli Combat Demonstration

2:45 p.m. Chinese Dance

3:00 p.m. Nigerian Drum & Dance

3:15 p.m. Blue Dragons Martial Arts Demonstration

Guests are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the Donald Bentley Food Pantry. Inclement weather date is Sunday, February 22.
