1922 Ruxton Road, Ruxton.
Hot House: A house with a story in Ruxton. 5 beds/5 baths. 6,700 square feet. 3.7 acres. Asking price: $2.995 million.
What: I love a house with a great back story! In the early 1930s, this house began life as a gorgeous four-story Mt. Vernon townhouse and all that goes with a classic 1850s Mt. Vernon home. The rooms were taken apart and moved into this specifically-designed and newly-constructed house in Ruxton.
Although the house was created in 1930 from parts that were already 80 years old, beginning in 2010, it was fully updated to bring it into its third century of existence.

As you enter the house, you get a true sense of the mid-1800s craftsmanship that was common during that period. There is a gilded ceiling, loads of custom crown moulding, seven fireplaces (two gas, two wood and three decorative), inlaid wood floors, floor-to-ceilings and inlaid hard-wood flooring. A formal living room, dining room and wood-paneled library/office, each with a fireplace, add to the elegance you feel when you arrive.

The kitchen has been fully upgraded with a large marble-topped center island, a pantry, and an adjacent breakfast room, which leads outside to a stone patio, beautiful gardens and a swimming pool.

The second-floor centers on an open hallway/sitting room with a built-in niche bookcase and a leaded glass window on the landing. The primary suite has a fireplace, a walk-in closet, plus two other closets and an en-suite bathroom. There are four additional bedrooms, two with a Jack-and-Jill bathroom, and another with a full bath. The third floor is not finished, but has the capability to become an additional bedroom, if necessary.

The house has a gated driveway from Ruxton Road, and parking on both sides of the house, plus a two-car garage.

Where: The house is on Ruxton Road, just off of the Ruxton Road exit from the Jones Falls Expressway. Itโs close to the shops and restaurants, and medical offices at Greenspring Station, as well as the classic Valley Inn. The extensive grounds of this house spread over almost four acres, including lots of old growth trees, and a beautiful swimming pool with a tanning deck.
Final Appraisal: This is a unique house, blending the classic woodwork, trim and flooring from a historic townhouse in Mt. Vernon, with modern conveniences that we can no longer live withoutโฆ a true mix of town and country. The listing for the house is here.

I wonder where the Mount Vernon house was?
The original house was #8 East Biddle Street. the whole house was taken apart and moved, so nothing left at the original address.
