Every year, when the calendar turns to September, Baltimore restaurants kick into high gear, scheduling parties, special dinners, and more. And this year is no exception. This week brings tons of fun opportunities to get out and enjoy the city – and this is just the appetizer for the rest of the fall.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up:

Openings & announcements

Keep an eye out for closures and traffic shifts on Saturday, Sept. 6, as the Maryland Cycling Classic traverses the city. Given anticipated challenges, Baltimore City made the decision to shut down the Fells Point Farmers Market on Saturday – so if you have the opportunity, try to support the Fells Point market vendors in other ways this week (list of vendors here).

Starting Sept. 16, Cinghiale will offer lunch service from Tuesday through Friday.

Midlina has dropped new fall menus for both food and beverages.

Garden inspiration at Magdalena

The Ivy Hotel’s restaurant, Magdalena, has a creative new cocktail menu inspired by iconic gardens of the world – including Maryland’s very own Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton. Ladew is represented by a gorgeous mix of Revivalist Garden Gin, Crème d Flora, Yellow Chartreuse and lemon.

Chicken at Heritage

Heritage Smokehouse has a new chicken deal available from Tuesday to Thursday each week. For $60, the meal includes a whole smoked chicken, a quart of braised green beans, a quart of jasmine rice with mushroom gravy, kale salad, and six honey butter yeast rolls.

The special is designed to feed a family of four – and it sounds terrific.

Los Primos pop-up at Le Comptoir du Vin

On Sept. 5 and 6, Le Comptoir du Vin welcome chefs Gerald Darling and Will Cochrane for a two-night pop-up. The chefs will team up on a five-course menu exploring the food of the Caribbean and Creole diaspora.

Baltimore by Baltimore is back

The Waterfront Partnership’s monthly series, Baltimore by Baltimore, returns Saturday, Sept. 6. This month’s event includes a focus on Mr. Trash Wheel, tons of art and entertainment, plus food and drinks from a bunch of local spots, including The Urban Oyster, Xash Crabs, Taharka Brothers ice cream, Arepi, Glizzy’s Wagyu Dogs, and Bar Movement.

Oktoberfest at Peabody Heights

Peabody Heights Brewery kicks off Oktoberfest season with a celebration on Sunday, Sept. 7. Starting at noon, the brewery will have live music and German-inspired food, along with contests, like stein-holding and lederhosen.

During the event, Peabody Heights’ new Oktoberfest beer will also debut.

Catoctin Creek x Foraged

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Foraged teams up with Catoctin Creek for a cocktail dinner. The meal includes four courses, each paired with a custom beverage.

Danny Freeman at The Ivy Bookshop

Also on Wednesday, food creator Danny Freeman will pop up at The Ivy Bookshop in honor of his new cookbook, Italianish: Modern Twists on Classic Italian Flavors. The Baltimore native will be joined by his brother, Jason, for a conversation about cooking and more.

Fells Point Oyster Fest

The Fells Point Oyster Fest is back! Starting Sept. 12 and running through the weekend, Broadway Square in Fells Point will be a huge party, with live music, crafts, food, drinks – and tons of oysters. The event, which is sponsored by Kooper’s Tavern, is sure to be a blast.
