The 8th annual Baltimore Taco Festival is at Power Plant Live! this weekend.

Fall is in full swing in Baltimore and local restaurants are embracing the season. Here’s a look at what’s on tap this week:

Openings & announcements

La Maison, a new spot from the owners of Café Dear Leon, is opening on Friday, Oct. 10 in Remington. Note: the first weekend is a soft opening, so be patient as the team will just be getting up and running.

An Italian restaurant and wine bar, Rocco’s, is opening in the Towson space that formerly housed Glory Days.

Barrington Tap & Table, a new spot from the owners of Walker’s Tap & Table, is opening in Marriottsville. Barrington will take over the space currently occupied by Black Flag Social House, which will operate through Sunday, Oct. 12.

Heavy Seas Beer announced this week that it has joined forces with Philadelphia’s Yards Brewing Co., Two Roads Brewing from Connecticut, and Bald Birds Brewing Co. from Pennsylvania to create a new venture, B3 Beverage Company. The individual brewery brands will remain in place but the companies will combine some operations to increase efficiency.

After 50 years in business, the family behind Tersiguel’s in Ellicott City is retiring and the restaurant is closing. However, the space will be taken over by family friends – including Tersiguel’s former baker.

Baltimore Taco Festival

The 8th annual Baltimore Taco Festival takes over Power Plant Live! on Saturday and Sunday. The ticketed event features over 30 food vendors, margarita bars, music and traditional dancing, kids’ activities and more.

Opera at Cinghiale

Cinghiale’s new Opera Salon Series returns this Sunday with an evening of live music and a four course dinner, presented in the restaurant’s Galleria.

Tides, Forests & Farms

Tuesday evening, Woodberry Kitchen’s Origins series returns with a visit from Sassafras chef and owner Paul Edward. Edward, who was a founder of Bluebird here in Baltimore before decamping to the Eastern shore and opening Sassafras, will join Woodberry’s Spike Gjerde for a discussion about the Chesapeake region and its cuisine.

Viña Don Melchor at Charleston

On Wednesday, Charleston hosts the CEO of Chilean winery Viña Don Melchor, along with a Chilean wine ambassador, for a wine dinner featuring discussion and a menu carefully designed to pair with Viña Don Melchor’s wines.

Cocktails at the Conservatory

The Rawlings Conservatory’s annual fundraising event, Cocktails at the Conservatory, is on Thursday evening. The party features snacks, live music, and drinks from the teams at Southpaw and Costiera, all served in the gorgeous Conservatory space.

Oyster Shellebration

Also on Thursday, True Chesapeake and Baltimore Fishbowl are teaming up for Oyster Shellebration, a night of bivalves, cocktails, live music, and support for Mr. Trash Wheel.

Harvest on the Harbor

Starting on Thursday, The Pendry Baltimore will spend a month celebrating the great weather and food of autumn with Harvest on the Harbor. On Thursdays through Sundays from Oct. 16 to Nov. 16, the Pool Deck will feature a fall-oriented menu (think espresso martinis and Old Bay caramel corn) in a fun setting with firepits, pumpkins, and live music. On Saturdays, the hotel will also screen seasonal movies, like “Hocus Pocus” and “Beetlejuice.”

Supporting breast cancer research & patients

Throughout October, Rusty Scupper will make a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation for every Pink Lady oyster sold.

At Cece’s, throughout the moth, $1 from every “Pink Drink” goes to The Red Devils, a Baltimore-based organization that supports breast cancer patients and their families.

Spooky treats at Johnny’s

Throughout October, Johnny’s is leaning into the season with a lineup of desserts and cocktails inspired by classic Halloween movies, like the “Greatest Pumpkin” bourbon, cold brew, and pumpkin spice drink, and the Harry Potter-esque “Nagini’s Negroni.”
