This week's events include tastings and dinners showcasing a variety of beers, wines and spirits.

Valentine’s Day might be over, but love is still in the air in the Baltimore restaurant community– especially love of beer, wine, and spirits. Here’s a look at the many fun events happening this week:

Openings and announcements

Rye Street Tavern has an reopening date. The restaurant, which is located at the Sagamore Spirit Distillery, will reopen on May 6, under the ownership of Clyde’s Restaurant Group. It originally opened in 2017 but has been closed since May 2021.

A new Caribbean restaurant, Palance Roti Shop & Bar, is opening in the Butcher’s Hill space formerly occupied by Life of Reilly.

Atlas Restaurant Group announced a couple new ventures this week. One is a loyalty program (with incentives for those who join before March 15). The other is a Tokyo underground izakaya-style concept, which will open later this year in the building on the corner of South Caroline and Aliceanna streets.

Belgian Beer Fest

Max’s Taphouse 20th annual Belgian Beer Fest starts at noon on Friday and lasts until Monday, Feb. 19. The event. The storied event features over 100 Belgian beers on tap (plus many more beers in different styles).

Nepenthe turns five

Hampden’s Nepenthe Brewing Co. turns five this weekend and is celebrating with a Friday party. The event, which is free and does not require a ticket, will include five new canned beer releases, including a couple collaborations, new merch, lots of specials, and more. The party starts at noon and goes until closing.

Pasta workshop at Le Comptoir

On Sunday, Le Comptoir du Vin welcomes culinary expert and artist Adriana Gallo for a workshop including handmade pasta instruction and Natty Wine tasting. The event starts with a discussion and dough-making, followed by cooking and tasting the creation. It will be a vegetarian meal – with a vegan option.

Lunar New Year duck dinner

On Monday, the Ggoma Supper Club crew will pop up at Foraged Eatery for a special Lunar New Year duck dinner. The meal, which is presented in partnership with local winemakers from The Vineyards at Dodon, features six courses – including two desserts – including dishes like gold rice congee with BBQ mushrooms, soy egg and crackling. It’s sure to be incredible – as the Ggoma dinners always are.

Catoctin Creek at The Tilted Row

On Wednesday, The Tilted Row brings back its Tasting Series with an event featuring Catoctin Creek Distillery. The ticketed event includes a cocktail, small bites, a spirits tasting, and a discussion with Catoctin’s owners, Becky and Scott Harris.

Rasa Vineyards dinner at Woodberry

On Thursday, the Tavern at Woodberry Kitchen welcomes Rasa Vineyards for a wine tasting and dinner.  There are two options for the tasting – a happy hour tasting at the bar featuring five wines (and light snacks) or a four-course meal with wine pairings – and the added bonus of conversation with the winemaker, Pinto Naravene. Both options require tickets.  

Australian wine dinner at The Elkridge Furnace Inn

Also on Thursday, The Elkridge Furnace Inn hosts a multi-course meal designed to pair with a variety of wines from Australia. Elkridge Chef Dan Wecker spent time living in there, getting to know the food and wines of the country, and is bringing that expertise to the kitchen for this event.

Amari dinner at Silver Queen Café

Tickets go on sale on Friday, Feb. 16 for Silver Queen Café’s next cocktail dinner – this one featuring Amari. SQC’s cocktail dinners typically sell out – quickly – so grab tickets early.
