From wellness to wine, this week offers a lot of excitement for Baltimore food lovers. Here’s what’s coming up:
Openings & announcements
Vivian’s is now open during the day Wednesday through Sunday. The Patterson Park-area restaurant has coffee, breakfast sandwiches and pastries for dine in and carryout – and evening hours will be added soon.
La Jetée has launched a weekday happy hour, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., featuring $5 select beers, $10 wines from Old Westminster Winery, and discounted snacks.
Oyfest
On Saturday, Union Craft Brewing hosts its annual Oyfest, benefiting the Oyster Recovery Partnership. The event, which is organized in conjunction with The Local Oyster, True Chesapeake Oyster, Johnson Bay Oyster Company, Annapolis Oyster Company, and Fallen Pine Oyster Company, features music, drinks, lots of oysters, and the city’s famous Oyster Eating Contest.
Wellness at Alma
From now through Sunday, Alma Cocina Latina is celebrating Healthy Dining Awareness Week with a special menu promoting mindful eating.
Maryland Irish Festival
The Maryland Irish Festival returns to the State Fairgrounds Friday, Nov. 7 through Sunday, Nov. 9. The event features tons of music, dance, and cultural exhibits – plus lots of food and drink, including whiskey tastings and Guinness.
Maryland Farm & Harvest returns
On Tuesday, Maryland Farm & Harvest returns to Maryland Public Television for its 13th season. The first episode includes visits to the family-run farm Dell Brothers, Inc. in Westminster, where the team breeds Wagyu cattle.
11/11 and 11
On Tuesday – 11/11 – The Duchess celebrates 11months in business and the team is throwing a party with “special treats” on deck and more.
Veterans Day at Atlas restaurants
On Tuesday, in honor of Veterans Day, Atlas Restaurant Group locations will offer 50% off for active and retired military members (parties of eight or fewer).
Wine dinners
This week is a great one for fans of wine dinners.
On Wednesday, Gunther & Co. welcomes some of the winemaking team from California’s Hartford Family Winery for a Meet the Winemaker Dinner. The evening includes a five-course meal designed to pair with Hartford wines.
On Thursday, Hersh’s teams up with The French Paradox for a multicourse wine dinner featuring the flavors and wines of the Piedmont region of Italy.
Also on Thursday, The Elkridge Furnace Inn hosts a wine and spirits dinner showcasing the cuisine and beverages of the Normandy region of France.
Milestone anniversaries
Two great local businesses have big birthdays coming up.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Kitsch Café turns five. The breakfast spot is marking the occasion with a party at The Garage at R. House – which it is now managing.
Baltimore Spirits Co. turns ten this month and is celebrating with an anniversary party and ‘Thanksgiving Extravaganza’ on Sunday Nov. 16.
