Fans of House of Cards received an unexpected surprise yesterday when Season 3 of the Baltimore-filmed political thriller was accidentally released to Netflix two weeks early.
I didn’t see it–I’m not usually browsing Netflix in the middle of the afternoon on Wednesday–but plenty of other people did. Even though the leaked episodes were up for less than an hour before Netflix pulled them, intrepid viewers still managed to glean some spoilers for the upcoming season.
I want to believe Netflix’s explanation, that the leak was the result of a “technical glitch.” But given the Machiavellian world of HoC, I can’t help but wonder–was this all a manipulation? A hype generator? A red herring? I guess we’ll have to wait until February 27 to find out…
