Top Stories: Mount Vernon Hotel Getting a New Name and a New Roof, Middle River Mom’s Awful Video Goes Viral, Netflix to Run Docuseries on Mysterious Slaying of Sister Catherine Cesnik

The most widely read story on Baltimore Fishbowl this week was Ed Gunts’ report about the rebranding of a prominent boutique hotel at the corner of Cathedral and Monument streets. Once known as Peabody Court, the Wyndham Baltimore and, most recently, the Mount Vernon Hotel, the owners now plan to reintroduce it as “Hotel Revival, a Joie de Vivre Hotel.”

In addition to a new name, the building at 612 Cathedral Street is also getting a replacement roof and a bar. Presently, it sports a curved glass top that has grown cloudy and translucent over the last few decades. The new one will still be made of glass, but will have straighter edges and room for a brand new rooftop drinking spot.

The Revival Hotel is set to reopen this fall. As for the name, the business’ website says it all: “Revival combines traditional roots with modern details, made from scratch cuisine with private karaoke rooms and classic cocktails with sweeping views of Baltimore.”
