Every parent remembers their childโs first day of school. Itโs just one of those life moments where you take that big step, hoping for the bestโand in this case, hoping youโve done your best to prepare your kiddo for everything that awaits them through those doors. School is where our children spend most of their waking hours, and the kind of education they receive varies greatly, depending on where they go. In a city like Baltimore, there are so many decisions to be made about where to send our children, and what kind of educational experience we want for them. Thankfully, the folks at the Calvert School are happy to help make that decision making process a bit less overwhelming. Thursday, May 8th, theyโll be offering a workshop about the admission process for independent schools. As experts in the field, theyโll offer helpful tools and ideas to get parents started on the right foot.
The workshop will cover a spectrum of topics that should be helpful to parents looking to send their child to a quality independent school. The day begins with โA Checklist for Independent School Admission.โ This will offer an overview of the admission processโparticularly useful for parents for whom this is an entirely new experience. After that, Nicole Webster (Director of Admission & Enrollment) will speak on โThe Right School Fit: Principles, Practices, & Programs.โ After all, no two schools are just alike, and parents should be armed with the right questions to make sure that the school theyโre interested will truly serve their childโs needs. And of course there will also be a workshop on โFinancing an Independent School Educationโโsince very few of us have the means to simply not worry about that part at all. By demystifying the financial aid process, Director of Finance & Operations Joe McGraw can help parents figure out how to realistically afford the education they want for their child; an extraordinarily valuable talk, since we all know that the right education is priceless.
The Calvert Schoolโs Independent School Admission Workshop takes place Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 9:30 A.M. โ 11:00 A.M. It will be held at the Calvert School, located at 4300 North Charles Street in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.calvertschoolmd.org.
