The McKeldin Square ice skating rink was meant to be a holiday affair. But since everything else is still frozen anyway, it’s staying open until mid-February.
According to the Downtown Partnership, the ice skating rink will remain open through Feb. 15, beyond its original closing date in mid-January. Skating is available from Thursday-Sunday of each week.
The November opening of rink, while not nearly as big as past options, marked the much-desired return of ice skating to the center of the city for the first time in roughly 10 years. Organizers said they heard from “15,000 people” who wanted to keep it open longer.
The rink will also host SkateFest on Wednesday, Jan. 14, from 6-8 p.m. The event includes music, giveaways and more.
