M&T Bank Stadium will once again play host to the rest of the world’s football in 2015.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup, an international soccer tournament featuring national teams from North and Central America, picked M&T Bank Stadium as a venue for their knockout round matches in July. Baltimore is also one of four cities that could host the tournament’s final. Since it’ll host a match in the later stage, there’s no way to tell right now if the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) will be among the teams taking the field.
Even though we don’t have an MLS team and are known more as a lacrosse town, international soccer has been a big draw in the past. In 2013, the USMNT played a sold out match at the stadium. They went on to win the tournament, so we must have done something right.
