LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Dear Readers,

We are excited to introduce Baltimore Fishbowl’s inaugural Guide to Summer Camps.

After struggling to find the perfect summer camp for my sons, I realized that other parents and caregivers in our area were likely struggling, too. Online searches gave me some ideas, but there was no one place to quickly find details about dates, rates, and exactly what each camp offers. There had to be a better way.

For eight years, Baltimore Fishbowl has published the Guide to Baltimore Independent Schools, helping parents decide where to send their kids to local private schools. But what about summer? Finding a camp that suits a family’s needs can be just as tricky as choosing the right school. Baltimore Fishbowl needed to publish a camp guide.

Whether our kids attend public school or private school, and whether we’re working full time over the summer or simply trying to cut down on our kids’ summertime screen time, we all share the same concerns: we have to know that our kids are in a safe, reputable, fun environment.

In addition to editorial content from Baltimore Fishbowl’s trusted staff, the Guide to Summer Camps includes sponsored content and advertisements from area camps as well as a detailed directory, designed to quickly answer questions about locations, session dates and rates, program offerings, and where to find more information.

Our main feature story focuses on counselor-in-training (CIT) programs, exploring how several local CIT programs have not only helped campers learn about responsibility and work ethic—lessons that will help them in all aspects of their lives—they have also created strong bonds and friendships that last far after camp is over.

We hope you are as excited about this new publication as we are and, in the following pages, you find the perfect place for your child this summer.

Enjoy!
