No, not that John Waters.
Our favorite local crime reporter, the Baltimore Sun’s Justin Fenton, notified Twitter yesterday that John Waters had been arrested by Baltimore City police in connection with a robbery involving police impersonators. While the robbery part didn’t exactly sound like the John Waters we’re most familiar with, the dressing-up-like-a-cop element… yeah, we could see him doing that.
But of course, there are many people in Baltimore named John Waters who are not the John Waters (I personally know two!), and a quick glance at this man’s mug shot reveals that he is not, alas, the famous film director. Still, this is as good a time as any to remember the story of when Waters was arrested in Baltimore, back in the day. (The story involves a nude hitchhiker, a Hopkins security guard, and a radical lawyer. It is well worth reading.) And/or to make some excellent/terrible puns.
