John Waters has apartments in San Francisco and New York, but if he had to limit himself to one city for the rest of his life, he’d pick Baltimore.
That’s what Waters told the Guardian, before offering a host of travel tips that range from spot-on (Peter’s Inn!) to quite odd (the spot where Divine ate dog shit in Pink Flamingos–the corner of West Read and Tyson streets). Waters also talks up perennial favorites Atomic Books, the Charles Theatre (which the Guardian calls the Charles Cinema for some reason) and Club Charles, as well as lesser-known spots like “the Wyman Park” (I think he means the New Wyman Park Restaurant?) and biker bar the Holiday House.
Read the whole thing here; it’ll make you grateful you live in a city that’s vibrant and weird enough to be John Waters’s favorite.
