According to court documents, Canton restaurant Langermann’s filed for bankruptcy last week.
The restaurant, which is located in the Can Company, is still open as they organize in an effort to pay debts to creditors. The company filed for Chapter 11, indicating they are declaring bankruptcy with the intention of continuing on. The restaurant owes more than $1 million, court documents state.
In an interview with Baltimore Business Journal, Kevin McGill — who is one of four equal partners in the business — blamed losses during the curfew that followed Baltimore’s riots. The curfew lasted a week, but McGill voiced fears that people “change their patterns” when an event like that happens.
