Lidl US will officially open its newest Baltimore County location on Wednesday, December 9 in the 31,000 square foot space formerly occupied by the Green Valley Marketplace at Padonia Village Shopping Center in Timonium. The national chain is ranked a top three U.S supermarket by Food & Wine Magazine.
Doors will open to the public at 8 am and the first 100 customers to enter the store will receive gift cards worth between $5 and $100. The Timonium store is the third Baltimore County location for Lidl, and the sixth in the greater Baltimore metropolitan region.
Lidl operates more than 11,200 stores, and is active in 32 countries, employing more than 315,000 workers globally. Lidl first established its U.S. headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia in June 2015, and today sells in more than 120 stores across nine states on the East Coast.
“Grocery stores traditionally function as the primary traffic driver for neighborhood shopping centers and, in Lidl, Padonia Village is now anchored by a concept that provides noteworthy differentiation in the northern Baltimore County region,” stated David Donato, Senior Vice President of Continental Realty Corporation. “Lidl has revolutionized the grocery shopping experience with a less complicated process that offers value pricing focused on private label goods. We are extremely confident in their ability to rapidly build market share in the grocery store category and attract many new customers to Padonia Village.”
Lidl operates a 754,000 square foot distribution and logistics center in Cecil County that supplies stores throughout Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
Last year Continental Realty Corporation completed a center-wide exterior renovation of Padonia Village featuring enhanced lighting, and the creation of a courtyard park named “the Green.” Mullan Contracting Company, the general contractor for the center’s renovation, won a Merit Award from the Baltimore Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for the project.
