UPDATE: Our own Marion Winik is one of the directors of the new brewery! Check back in the Baltimore Fishbowl for a post from her about the new project, including an estimated date for its opening! She writes in an email: “Ian Hummel, who is the mastermind and brewmeister [of the new brewery], was our closest neighbor when the boys were growing up in rural PA, and remains one of [my son] Vince’s best friends.”
Ryan Detter over at City Paper spotted a notice on an old Mt. Vernon fire house that suggests the space may become a microbrewery!
The notice states that Brew House No. 16 has requested a class B liquor license and a permit for outdoor seating. There was also some brewing gear visible, so it’s safe to assume that the neighborhood may be getting another microbrewery in the near future.
The address is 831 N. Calvert St., and it has a beautifully detailed facade. It would be great to have a reason to hang out at the historic building.
