The North Carolina man found with 12-year-old Baltimore County girl Jasmine Baker is facing charges in the case.
According to the Raleigh News and Observer, 32-year-old Victor Arroyo was arrested on Saturday, and was charged with rape and kidnapping. He is being held on $1.5 million bail.
In addition to the charges in connection with Baker’s disappearance, authorities also allege Arroyo absconded from probation, and returned to the U.S. illegally after being deported.
Baker, a sixth grader at Perry Hall Middle School, was reported missing last Tuesday. She was found by federal agents in the Raleigh area on Friday, and returned home to her White Marsh home on Saturday. FBI agents said they obtained information from apps on Baker’s XBox and iPod that played a “crucial role” in finding the girl. Police previously said she had a history of communicating with men via the apps.
