Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who divided public opinion with her decision to prosecute six police officers in the death of Freddie Gray, has received hate mail and death threats that her office has called “offensive and extremely disturbing.”

The seriousness of some of the threats has prompted investigations and resulted in a beefed up security detail for the prosecutor, WBAL reports. Included among the “racist, sexist” messages are graphic fictional accounts of the deaths of Mosby and her husband, Councilman Nick Mosby, written as news articles in which Baltimore police are depicted as apathetic.

Apparently, many of the messages are short, expletive-filled declarations which shift suddenly between the second and third person. (“You are a cop hater. . . She should be hung.”)
