
Maryland’s seven-day average rate of positive COVID tests fell to 2.19%, reaching its lowest point of the pandemic.
This comes one day after the average reached a new low of 2.23% on Tuesday.
State officials on Wednesday newly reported 337 coronavirus cases, brining the total number of positive cases to 456,765, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,427,038 Marylanders have tested negative for the virus to date.
Maryland has completed 10,149,092 coronavirus tests to date, with 19,946 test results reported in the past 24 hours.
The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 2.39% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 2.05% for Marylanders older than 35.
Maryland’s coronavirus-related hospitalizations continued to fall to 596 patients on Wednesday.
Of those currently hospitalized, 430 are in acute care and 155 are in intensive care.
The number of acute care patients declined by one while the number of intensive care patients fell by 10, marking a net decrease of 11 fewer people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Tuesday.
To date, Maryland has recorded a total of 42,721 hospitalizations tied to COVID-19.
A total of 8,766 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with 12 additional deaths reported since Tuesday. There are also 191 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday reported that 66.8% of Marylanders age 18 and older have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
A total of 2,640,260 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Wednesday.
Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 3,042,933 first doses and 2,421,223 second doses.
In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 31,294 first doses and 45,509 second doses.
Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 219,037 people, including 3,045 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, there have been 84,561 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 70,585 in Montgomery County; 65,084 in Baltimore County; 52,408 in Baltimore City; 43,506 in Anne Arundel County; 19,676 in Frederick County; 19,123 in Howard County; 16,441 in Harford County; 14,469 in Washington County; 10,746 in Charles County; 9,391 in Carroll County; 7,602 in Wicomico County; 6,958 in Allegany County; 6,247 in Cecil County; 5,976 in St. Mary’s County; 4,197 in Calvert County; 3,616 in Worcester County; 2,972 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,802 in Dorchester County; 2,581 in Somerset County; 2,323 in Caroline County; 2,141 in Talbot County; 2,020 in Garrett County; and 1,340 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.
Maryland has confirmed 25,550 cases in people age 9 or younger; 46,994 in people ages 10-19; 83,777 in people ages 20-29; 78,252 in people ages 30-39; 68,137 in people ages 40-49; 68,047 in people ages 50-59; 45,309 in people ages 60-69; 24,884 in people ages 70-79; and 15,815 in people age 80 or older.
The state has identified 238,888 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 217,877 as male.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 141,135 are Black, 11,046 are Asian, 161,340 are white, 69,155 are Hispanic, 21,326 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,763.
Nationwide, there have been at least 32,998,197 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 587,215 deaths. The U.S. has administered 275,016,916 vaccine doses to date as of 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
