Maryland health officials on Thursday reported more than 1,000 new cases for the third straight day.

The state’s coronavirus caseload rose by 1,444 new cases, an increase of about 0.34%.

The seven-day average number of daily new cases has been rising since early March. The average case rate is now 23.56 cases per 100,000 residents, nearly double the rate of 12.33 cases per 100,000 residents on March 6 — the lowest it had been since October.

At least 431,795 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 3,253,203 have tested negative as of Thursday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

State officials on Thursday reported 19 more coronavirus-related deaths, totaling 8,326 Marylanders who have died from COVID-19 to date. There are also 186 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

Maryland has completed 9,219,235 COVID-19 tests to date, with 33,064 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

An average of 5.78% of the state’s coronavirus tests over the last seven days came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 6.42% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 5.25% for Marylanders older than 35.

Of the 1,244 Marylanders currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 954 are in acute care and 290 are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients ticked up by one while the number of intensive care patients rose by seven, marking a net increase of eight more people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Wednesday.

A total of 39,632 Marylanders have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 to date.

Of the two-dose vaccines, Maryland has administered a total of 2,181,212 first doses and 1,315,736 second doses.

In the past 24 hours, providers have administered 37,628 first doses and 30,258 second doses.

Maryland providers have also administered single-dose vaccines to a total of 178,492 people, including 2,331 doses that were reported in the past 24 hours.

A total of 1,494,228 Marylanders have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, state data showed on Thursday.

As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 80,817 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 68,487 in Montgomery County; 60,053 in Baltimore County; 48,311 in Baltimore City; 40,905 in Anne Arundel County; 18,946 in Frederick County; 18,192 in Howard County; 15,304 in Harford County; 13,761 in Washington County; 10,184 in Charles County; 8,764 in Carroll County; 7,268 in Wicomico County; 6,666 in Allegany County; 5,689 in Cecil County; 5,632 in St. Mary’s County; 4,026 in Calvert County; 3,482 in Worcester County; 2,811 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,575 in Dorchester County; 2,509 in Somerset County; 2,200 in Caroline County; 2,020 in Talbot County; 1,927 in Garrett County; and 1,266 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Maryland has identified 225,622 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 206,173 as male.

The state has confirmed 22,961 cases in people age 9 or younger; 43,207 in people ages 10-19; 79,264 in people ages 20-29; 73,954 in people ages 30-39; 64,762 in people ages 40-49; 64,780 in people ages 50-59; 43,386 in people ages 60-69; 24,043 in people ages 70-79; and 15,438 in people age 80 or older.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 130,023 are Black, 10,404 are Asian, 151,960 are white, 66,552 are Hispanic, 20,149 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 52,707.

Nationwide, there have been at least 31,422,960 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 564,387 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 411.6 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
