Coronavirus-related hospitalizations decreased slightly with five fewer COVID-19 patients since Monday, according to data released by the state today.

Maryland has confirmed at least 96,843 positive COVID-19 cases, while 970,616 people have tested negative for the virus as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s caseload rose by 585, an increase of 0.6 percent.

Of the state’s total number of confirmed cases, 13,266 people who tested positive for COVID-19 were hospitalized at some point, including 529 who are currently hospitalized.

Of those currently hospitalized, 408 are in acute care, and 121 are in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients decreased by seven, while the number of intensive care patients increased by two, marking a net decrease of five fewer people hospitalized due to COVID-19 compared to Monday.

Maryland has completed a total of 1,485,615 coronavirus tests to date, with 17,145 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

Over the last seven days, an average of 3.54 percent of COVID-19 tests came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests is 4.72 percent of Marylanders younger than 35 and 2.96 percent for Marylanders older than 35–marking the first time that the older group’s average has dipped below 3 percent.

A total of 3,467 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with 13 additional deaths reported since Monday. There are also 137 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 24,009 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 18,558 in Montgomery County; 13,374 in Baltimore County; 12,893 in Baltimore City; 7,450 in Anne Arundel County; 3,913 in Howard County; 3,093 in Frederick County; 2,067 in Charles County; 2,012 in Harford County; 1,567 in Carroll County; 1,356 in Wicomico County; 1,029 in Washington County; 1,003 in St. Mary’s County; 713 in Calvert County; 708 in Cecil County; 697 in Worcester County; 453 in Caroline County; 433 in Queen Anne’s County; 403 in Talbot County; 378 in Dorchester County; 300 Allegany County; 242 in Kent County; 141 in Somerset County; and 51 in Garrett County, according to the dashboard.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 3,359 have been people age 9 or younger; 6,367 have been people ages 10-19; 17,034 have been people ages 20-29; 18,193 have been people ages 30-39; 16,197 have been people ages 40-49; 14,427 have been people ages 50-59; 9,891 have been people ages 60-69; 6,098 have been people ages 70-79; and 5,277 have been people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 51,048 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 45,795 as male.

Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 30,377 have been Black, 23,983 have been Hispanic, 21,215 have been white, 1,752 have been Asian, 4,249 have been another race, and data is not available for the remaining 15,267.

Nationwide, there have been at least 5,097,164 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 163,505 deaths and 1,670,755 recoveries. More than 62.5 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
