Maryland on Tuesday reported 50 new coronavirus-related deaths, the highest number of COVID-19 fatalities reported in one day since May.

The state has reported fewer than 50 deaths each day since reporting 53 deaths on May 27.

To date, a total of 4,755 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, and another 161 residents’ deaths are suspected to be related to the virus.

Maryland’s coronavirus-related hospitalizations jumped by 92 patients, with a total of 1,653 Marylanders currently hospitalized with the virus.

The number of acute care patients reached 1,257 patients, an increase of 84 patients, while the number of intensive care patients rose to 396, an increase of eight patients.

Maryland has hospitalized a total of 22,421 people with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

At least 219,961 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,254,514 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s total number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 2,632, an increase of 1.21%.

Maryland has completed 4,770,832 coronavirus tests to date, with 40,400 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

On average, 7.61% of the state’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days have come back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 8.17% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 7.31% for Marylanders older than 35.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 44,894 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 36,851 in Montgomery County; 32,014 in Baltimore County; 26,593 in Baltimore City; 18,646 in Anne Arundel County; 9,004 in Howard County; 7,952 in Frederick County; 6,704 in Harford County; 5,190 in Washington County; 4,804 in Charles County; 4,204 in Allegany County; 3,796 in Carroll County; 3,725 in Wicomico County; 2,514 in Cecil County; 2,486 in St. Mary’s County; 1,766 in Calvert County; 1,613 in Worcester County; 1,351 in Somerset County; 1,236 in Queen Anne’s County; 1,091 in Dorchester County; 1,086 in Caroline County; 1,024 in Garrett County; 904 in Talbot County; and 513 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 9,391 are people age 9 or younger; 19,638 are people ages 10-19; 41,669 are people ages 20-29; 39,037 are people ages 30-39; 34,386 are people ages 40-49; 32,658 are people ages 50-59; 21,600 are people ages 60-69; 12,571 are people ages 70-79; and 9,011 are people age 80 or older.

Maryland has identified 115,640 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 104,321 as male.

Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 65,043 are Black, 40,552 are Hispanic, 67,876 are white, 4,377 are Asian, 9,971 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 32,142.

Nationwide, there have been at least 14,958,789 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 283,874 deaths and 5,714,557 recoveries. The U.S. has conducted more than 205.9 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
