Maryland officials on Tuesday reported 53 more deaths related to coronavirus, bringing the state’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities to 6,476.

There are also 174 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.

At least 330,186 Marylanders have tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,731,921 have tested negative as of Tuesday morning, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.

The state’s coronavirus caseload grew by 1,972, an increase of 0.6%.

Maryland has completed 6,510,156 coronavirus tests to date, with 29,389 test results reported in the past 24 hours.

On average, 7.8% of the state’s COVID-19 tests over the last seven days came back positive.

The seven-day average rate of positive tests yesterday was 7.89% for Marylanders younger than 35 and 7.76% for Marylanders older than 35.

Currently, 1,875 Marylanders are hospitalized with coronavirus, with 1,464 COVID-19 patients in acute care and 411 in intensive care.

The number of acute care patients grew by 35 while the number of intensive care patients declined by 10, marking a net increase of 25 people hospitalized with coronavirus compared to Monday.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Maryland has hospitalized a total of 30,157 people with coronavirus.

The state has distributed the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine to a total of 241,294 Marylanders, including 7,985 who received it in the past 24 hours.

Of the Maryland recipients of the first vaccine dose, 24,363 individuals have received the second vaccine dose, including 2,562 people in the past 24 hours.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, there have been 63,592 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County; 54,835 in Montgomery County; 44,391 in Baltimore County; 35,941 in Baltimore City; 30,355 in Anne Arundel County; 14,447 in Frederick County; 13,592 in Howard County; 10,396 in Washington County; 10,396 in Harford County; 7,303 in Charles County;  in6,397 Carroll County; 5,956 in Allegany County; 5,791 in Wicomico County; 4,438 in Cecil County; 4,161 in St. Mary’s County; 3,099 in Calvert County; 2,831 in Worcester County; 2,196 in Queen Anne’s County; 2,109 in Somerset County; 1,864 in Dorchester County; 1,728 in Garrett County; 1,665 in Caroline County; 1,525 in Talbot County; and 949 in Kent County, according to the dashboard.

Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for coronavirus, 15,681 are people age 9 or younger; 30,689 are people ages 10-19; 60,532 are people ages 20-29; 57,460 are people ages 30-39; 50,701 are people ages 40-49; 49,800 are people ages 50-59; 33,468 are people ages 60-69; 19,039 are people ages 70-79; and 12,816 are people age 80 or older.

The state has identified 173,168 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 157,018 as male.

Of Maryland’s confirmed cases, 93,515 are Black, 54,840 are Hispanic, 111,612 are white, 7,107 are Asian, 15,470 are another race, and data is not available for the remaining 47,642.

Nationwide, there have been at least 24,081,790 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States, including at least 399,015 deaths. The U.S. has conducted more than 281.1 million coronavirus tests to date as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
