Okay, I know I said that the Robotomas exhibit over at AVAM was Baltimore’s truly wackiest holiday display— and I stand by that. But this Anne Arundel woman is sure giving that tackiness a run for its money: she has 277 Christmas trees inside her house. And it’s not even a huge house, which means there are 28 trees in her bathroom (including one in her shower).
Renatta Zanco’s story of holiday over-indulgence began as every heart-warming Christmas story does — with some intense sibling rivalry. “Each year, [my sister] would call me up and say, ‘How many trees did you put up?’ And then, of course, I would have to outdo her,” Zanco told Fox 5 in DC. “So I would call her back and say I’ve got two more then you did. Then she would call me back the next year [and say], ‘Well, I’ve got five more’ and it started out like that.”
Zanco enabled her hobby by working weekends at a Christmas shop: “I was just in it for the discount because after Christmas, they always have a sale,” she said. See more photos of Zanco’s decked out display here.
