Mayor Brandon M. Scott will visit all nine Baltimore City Main Streets to celebrate off Small Business Saturday.

Mayor Brandon M. Scott and Baltimore Main Streets will kick off Small Business Saturday with a citywide shopping tour on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025. They will co-host the event with the Mayorโ€™s Office of Small and Minority Business Advocacy and Development (SMBA&D).

This year marks the 16th Small Business Saturday, a campaign founded in 2010 by American Express and co-sponsored by the Small Business Administration since 2011. Always the day after Black Friday, it is an annual global awareness campaign to support small and local businesses.

โ€œAs I mark my fourth year hosting Small Business Saturday with Baltimore Main Streets, Iโ€™m more inspired than ever by the passion and perseverance of our local entrepreneurs,โ€ said Charlyn Nater, director of Baltimore Main Streets. โ€œEvery purchase made here strengthens our cityโ€™s future. Thank you for keeping Baltimoreโ€™s heartbeat strong.โ€

This yearโ€™s event will begin at 10 a.m. at Harp Vision in Highlandtown, and throughout the day Scott will visit local businesses in the other eight Baltimore Main Streets. He will tour Main Streets in Belair-Edison, Federal Hill, Fells Point, Hamilton-Lauraville, Park Heights, Pennsylvania Ave, Pigtown, and Waverly.

โ€œOur brick-and-mortar space is more than a store – itโ€™s a hub for wellness and community,โ€ said April and Tyron Harper, co-owners of Harp Vision. โ€œWhen small businesses like ours are supported, it allows us to keep pouring back into the neighborhoods we serve and to remind people that wellness isnโ€™t a luxury, itโ€™s a necessity.โ€

Christopher R. Lundy, Esq. is director of SMBA&D, and hopes people recognize the value of small, local businesses all year round.

โ€œSmall Business Saturday is an annual reminder to shop locally. These dollars support businesses like Harp Vision to develop and grow to a Main Street location,โ€ said Lundy. โ€œThe SMBA&D team is working to ensure you do not forget to support local small businesses and Baltimore City throughout the year. Follow us on social media [@bmoresmbad] for profiles of other great small businesses you can support.โ€

Another stop on the tour is Pandoraโ€™s Box in Federal Hill. A Black-owned business celebrating its 25th year, this boutique calls itself a โ€œlifestyle storeโ€ prioritizing the power of representation. According to their website, the brands they sell โ€œsupport local designers, jewelry makers and artisans, and promote social change, individuality, support for women and overall happiness.โ€

Sankofa Childrenโ€™s Museum of African Culture in Park Heights is another stop. Educating and connecting children to true African history and culture, the museum promotes understanding of the African continentโ€™s vast physical and cultural diversity. It aims to โ€œpromote world understanding through engagement with art, cultures, the geography and history of Africaโ€™s myriad diversities and its many great contributions to society as a whole,โ€ reads the website.

In Hamilton-Lauraville, the mayor and his group will stop at Keppel & Kismet, a gift store offering premium, small-batch products and gifts. Founder Nichole Sullivan has been featured in Baltimore Beat, Open Works, and was a finalist in the 2023 Crab Tank Pitch Competition. According to the storeโ€™s website, Sullivan โ€œchampions the support of local makers, recognizing the value of preserving traditional craftsmanship while embracing modern sustainability practices.โ€

Scott, SMBA&D, and Baltimore Main Streets encourage Baltimore City residents to shop local businesses and invest in their communities throughout the holiday season. Spread the word by sharing Small Business Saturday experiences on social media using the hashtag #BMORE2BALTIMORE.
