According to the Better Business Bureau, a med spa (short for โmedical spaโ) is a place where customers can get non-invasive cosmetic treatments, though some of those treatments still carry significant risks. The American Med Spa Association defines a medical spa as โa hybrid between an aesthetic medical center and a day spa.โ They offer treatments like Botox injections, nonsurgical fat reduction, tattoo removal, laser hair removal, and more.
The BBB offers tips on finding a safe and reputable med spa, given the exponential growth in their popularity. The market is expected to triple by 2031. BBB recommends doing research, including combining word of mouth advice with online checks, like those you can do with BBB.org; visiting the facility; checking the spaโs safety protocols; seeing a doctor there, and more.
