Ronnie Footlick is a life-long volunteer in Baltimore’s Jewish community. A campaign solicitor for over 30 years, she served as the women’s campaign chair for the 2019 campaign. After working on the committee for Baltimore’s Lion of Judah Endowment initiative, she is now serving as chair of Planned Giving and Endowment for The Associated.
Why does she do it? “I’m not a Baltimore native, but Baltimore has been extremely giving to me,” explained Ronnie. “My parents always looked outward and not inward, and the most important lesson I learned from them was that I have a responsibility to give back in many ways. Three ‘W’s’ – Work [volunteer], Wealth [give money] and Wisdom [take an active role on the boards and committees].”
Supporting The Associated is a family affair for Ronnie. She co-chaired a Lion of Judah event with her daughters, Leslie Schaller and Randi Settleman, and has introduced her five grandchildren to the concept of tikkun olam (repair the world) and tzedakah (righteousness). She was proud to make her granddaughter, Remi Schaller, a member of the Pomegranate Society for her bat mitzvah. After working in the OB-GYN clinic at Sinai Hospital, Ronnie rose through the volunteer ranks over the course of 45 years; she has chaired every lay board on the Sinai Auxillary, the Sinai Hospital Board, as well as becoming the only female board chair of LifeBridge Health. She has often joked that it took her 30 years to get from the basement to the boardroom.
