Jay’s on Read just poured its last St. Patty’s Day pint. The Mount Vernon fixture announced Monday — as something of a Facebook afterthought — that it would be closing soon.
Myself, I’ve never been. But Baltimore Business Journal‘s associate editor was a regular patron, and she published a eulogy for the establishment. She describes it as “a cross between a piano bar, a gay bar, a neighborhood bar, and a lounge” where everyone is welcome.
If you’ve never been but you’re intrigued by the allegedly low-key vibe, there’s still time to patronize the place! It’s on W. Read Street near Park.

So sad. The most unpretentious, non judgmental gay bar in Baltimore. Hopefully someone with the same vision will take over the space.
