The Orioles solved one of their pressing issues by acquiring outfielder Gerardo Parra from the Milwaukee Brewers for right-handed minor league pitcher Zach Davies just prior to the July 31 non-waiver MLB trade deadline.
The Orioles have struggled to get production from their corner outfielders. Parra could be the solution and could take over the leadoff spot. He has a career-high 14-game hitting streak and is batting .328 on the season. He also has nine home runs and 31 RBIs with 24 doubles and five triples.
Parra can play all three outfield positions and has won two Gold Gloves with the Diamondbacks — in 2011 as left fielder and in 2013 as a right fielder. He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Davies has appeared in 19 games (18 starts) for Triple-A Norfolk and is 5-6 with a 2.84 ERA.
