For the first time this year, the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts joined Light City and the Baltimore Book Festival, creating a new event, Brilliant Baltimore. The new festival last weekend, bringing crowds down for author talks and light displays, and continues this week.
Book events run through Nov. 6 at the UMS Columbus Center, including appearances by Lonnie Bunch in conversations with CBS News Correspondent Bill Whitaker, and Hill Harper, an actor on ABCโs โThe Good Doctor.โ
The lights are up until Nov. 10, during which thereโs a full schedule of concerts and other festivities, culminating in a fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. on Sunday.
Here are some photos from the opening days of Brilliant Baltimore.

Been going to lightfest since first year. Very disappointed. A very few light exhibits, and some geared for one/two people. Long lengths of inner harbor with nothing…at least got a nice walk in. Need more attractions or all the great strides will be lost.
Agree Walking between exhibits was a lot. Never quite made it from little Italy around to science center.
. Maybe they could leave some up year round.
