Governor Hogan today called on Maryland students in pre-K through grade 12 to submit poster designs in the theme of “Celebrating Maryland’s Healthcare Heroes” as part of Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week.

The competition is “just one way we can honor our healthcare heroes and thank them for their immense sacrifices throughout the past two years of the pandemic,” Hogan said in a news release.

Students can submit their poster designs from now until March 8 at 5 p.m.

There will be a preliminary judging round from March 8-14, when two poster designs from each of Maryland’s 24 local education agencies will be selected to compete in the statewide competition.

First Lady Yumi Hogan and Deputy Secretary Dr. Jinlene Chan of the Maryland Department of Health will then select one winning poster from each category in the statewide competition: elementary, middle, and high school.

Winning posters will be on display at local hospitals and winning students will receive official governor’s citations.

The competition rules can be viewed here.
