Ray Lewis is known as one of the greatest linebackers of all time – an NFL Hall of Famer who led the Baltimore Ravens to two Super Bowl championships and was selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times.
But this week he’s taking on a different role: commencement speaker.
Lewis will be the featured speaker for North Carolina Central University’s 147th Commencement Exercises on Saturday. He will address graduates of the university’s College of Health of Sciences, School of Business and School of Education in a ceremony that begins at 2 p.m. inside the university’s McDougald-McLendon Arena in Durham.
Since retiring in 2013 after a 17-year career with the Ravens, Lewis has become a sought-after speaker on leadership and motivation.
The author of a New York Times best-selling memoir, “I Feel Like Going On,” Lewis “has been bringing his unique brand of inspiration and motivation to some of the world’s biggest companies and organizations for years,” states the university’s website. “He speaks from the heart with passion and authority, drawing from a wealth of experiences on and off the field.”
At North Carolina Central University, Lewis is expected to share lessons about leadership, working through adversity and inspiring the best in people. His talk can be viewed online via the NCCU YouTube Channel or the university’s website, nccu.edu.

What is the title of his speech? How to get away with murder?
