This Sudbrook Park (Pikesville) Victorian might just be real estate’s version of the holy grail. It is picture perfect pretty from the the outside: classic architecture, slate roof, immaculate landscaping and period windows. Inside the “dream home” theme continues with leaded glass windows, ten foot ceilings, gorgeous fireplace mantels and gleaming hardwood floors. It’s also plenty big – six-bedrooms-and-five-baths-on-two-acres big. So why is this house only (relatively speaking) $650,000? Is there a Taco Bell across the street or something? Please check it out and tell me what gives. Visualize: Shooting the family Christmas card photo on the front porch. You’ll want to rub this one in a little.
To picture this Pikesville Tudor fit for today’s tastes you will have to use your imagination. Someone with an eye for what to keep and what to toss could end up with an tastefully impressive house on their hands, and for a steal. The exterior is certainly charming (paint job not withstanding) and the three acres of grounds include a lovely spring house and a lily pond. It all makes me want to make regular use of the word “splendid!” Inside, all walls need new paint and wallpaper, at the most a complete redo of the kitchen and bathrooms. What’s at the end of that rainbow of construction and money? A large home with an estate like feel for about $1.5 million all in. Splendid indeed! Visualize: Pulling up that long driveway self-satisfied.
