The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) wants to help residents vote this election season. To eliminate transportation cost as a barrier the MTA is offering free transit on core service on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024. This includes bus, metro subway, light rail, and mobility transportation. Polls in Maryland will be open from 7 a.m. โ 8 p.m.
โEvery citizen who wants to exercise their fundamental right to vote should have easy access to the polls,โ said Holly Arnold, Maryland Transit Administrator. โThis Election Day, for the first time, the Maryland Transit Administration is proud to offer free rides to help make the voting process more accessible for everyone.โ
MTAโs free transit rides will be available on the Local Bus system (CityLink, LocalLink and Express BusLink), Metro Subway, Light Rail, and the Mobility paratransit system.
Plan your bus or rail trip in advance by using the free Transit app or by visiting the MTAโs website at this link. The Transit app provides real-time schedules, predicted arrival times, service alerts and detailed step-by-step navigation. The app gives customers access to upcoming departures, route maps, and vehicle tracking.
Customers also can contact the Transit Information Contact Center at 410-5395-5000. Certified mobility riders can contact the Mobility Call Center reservation line at 410-764-8181 or online at this link.
If a voter prefers a ride to the polls, they can request a ride by filling out this Google form linked here (not part of the MTA’s offerings).
