Roland Park Place (RPP) has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report in its 2025 “Best Senior Living” ratings.

RPP is Baltimore City’s first and only accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community and received “Best” recognitions in the Independent Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Community categories.

U.S. News & World Report added several new categories of service to this year’s ratings, for which Roland Park Place also received recognition, including Independent Living-Activities & Enrichment, Memory Care—Feels Like Home, and Memory Care-Food & Dining.

Earning “Best” status in Independent Living, Memory Care, and Continuing Care Retirement Community categories means RPP achieved the highest rating possible for those categories.

“We are incredibly proud to once again be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence in senior living,” said Roland Park Place CEO Sam Guedouar in a statement. “These honors reflect the unwavering commitment of our entire team to provide a vibrant, supportive, and enriching environment for our residents. It’s especially meaningful to be acknowledged across multiple categories, including Independent Living, Memory Care, and as a top Continuing Care Retirement Community. This recognition affirms our mission to redefine aging with purpose, dignity, and joy in the heart of Baltimore.”

The data used to rate the nation’s senior living facilities came from nearly 450,000 consumer experience surveys, which U.S. News & World Report evaluated for each community to determine its rankings for Best Independent Living, Best Assisted Living and/or Best Memory Care.

Continuing care retirement communities and life plan communities were also considered for recognition among the Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities. More than 3,800 communities met the criteria and over 1,800 were recognized as best in one category. Of those 1,703 only 61 were recognized as Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

Other Baltimore-area communities that received high ratings and earned “Best” rankings in one or more of the four categories include Brightview Perry Hall (Best Independent Living, Best Assisted Living, Best Memory Care); Sunrise of Columbia (Best Assisted Living, Best Memory Care); Brightview Severna Park (Best Assisted Living, Best Memory Care), and more.

In Baltimore City, the 65+ age group was the fastest growing group between 2010 and 2022, with its population increasing 22.6%. In 2010, 11.7% of the city’s population was 65 and older. In 2022, that number had risen to 15.7%.

In January 2025, Cohousing of Greater Baltimore announced that it had land under contract for the future home of their first senior cohousing community, which will be in Hampden. Its focus will be on aging in place and full accessibility.
