In the days leading up to Caesar Goodson’s acquittal in the death of Freddie Gray, various sources reported that Baltimore was “bracing for an explosive reaction.”
While protestors flocked to the streets in the wake of the verdict, chanting “No justice, no peace,” there were none of the riots or looting that some media seemed to be thirsting for. Only a handful of protestors were even at the courthouse for the verdict.

Without exciting footage of destruction to show, MSNBC just used last year’s images and video of chaos in the city–stamped with the phrase HAPPENING NOW, as the Baltimore Sun pointed out. It’s almost as though they didn’t think a calm city where people stage peaceful protests is worth covering.
