Want to look at fine art while you get a haircut? Head to Southwest Baltimore.
The barbershop is one of an urban neighborhood’s community centers. As Troy Stanton knows, that makes it a good place to show off your collection.
NBC News visited Stanton’s New Beginnings Barber Shop on Hollins St., and found an impressive display of African-American art. Some of the art is from the barber’s own collection, but the shop also functions as a full-on gallery, showing the work of contemporary artists. There are even opening and closing receptions — with wine.
