CCBC Offers New Certification in TESOL!

There are so many people, both here and abroad, who want to learn English that it opens up a wide range of teaching opportunities.

Now is a great time to start your training in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).  CCBC Continuing Education offers a workforce training certificate program in this high-demand teaching area, whether you are an adult seeking a new career, want a career change or desire meaningful skills to fill volunteer opportunities.

Skills training in TESOL can open many doors for you, including tutoring new immigrants, pursuing English teaching overseas or gaining skills to work more effectively with co-workers who may have been born abroad and for whom English is not their first language.

When Life’s on Hold…Learning Doesn’t Have to Be!

As we all learn to do more from home, many people are exploring online training options that they can access from anywhere. CCBC has been working with ed2go for years to provide online classes for people who want to sharpen their skills or just have some fun.

Ed2go offers 6-week classes that focus on personal enrichment, business, languages, IT/computer skills, writing, job training and more.  These are instructor-led classes that students can take on their own time; some people like working early in the morning while others are night owls. Classes can fit any schedule. “The topics range from computer classes, to opening your own business and even Digital Scrapbooking,” said CCBC online coordinator Gail Wachter. “Some people use these classes to get started on a new language.”

What’s different about these classes versus many other online options is that there is an instructor to answer your questions…and there are no grades involved!

Travel, Learn & Grow with CCBC

Did you know about all the travel opportunities through CCBC? With trips both here and abroad, there’s a trip for almost any interest.

There are one-day trips to New York and the Philadelphia Flower Show, longer International trips and everything in between. These trips are open to the public and anyone can sign up.

“The more we learn about the world around us, the better our global perspective,” said Terry Walter, coordinator of the Travel Studies program. Terry has been leading group travel for more than 20 years and knows many travel tricks that make every trip an adventure. “Our excursions are exciting, fun and really do provide ways you can learn and grow…or, at the very least, see something new and different,” she said.

Let CCBC Help You Help Others with Their Human Services Counseling Program

Addiction, aging, anxiety, mental and emotional distresses…these are just some of the concerns where the skills of a good counselor can come into play.  If you like to help people with finding ways they can cope, and this sounds like a career path that would interest you, then look no further than the Human Services Counseling program at CCBC.

HUSC is one of the few programs of its kind in the nation to offer a unique combination of classes available either fully online, face-to-face, or in a blended format, that prepares you for a variety of career options in the related fields of human services, social work, and/or behavioral health counseling.

After completing the program, graduates are prepared to function as human services workers and counselors in a broad range of settings, such as residential and outpatient programs, group homes, and programs for the aging population.  The program offers two A.A.S. degree concentrations (Behavioral Health Counseling and Human Services Generalist) as well as six separate certificates.
