City audit faults BPD’s lack of oversight, technology for ballooning overtime expenses

The Baltimore Police Department is “operating at an unsatisfactory level in virtually every area” when it comes to documenting, monitoring and supervising overtime, which has in part allowed expenses to more than double over the last four years, according to an audit released by the Pugh administration today.

Mayor Catherine Pugh didn’t seem fazed when asked Wednesday about the unanimous rejection to transfer $21 million in police overtime spending by the Baltimore City Council’s budget committee.

“It’s already spent,” she told the media during her weekly press conference.

Woodberry Kitchen is a restaurant that’s beloved by critics and diners… but not, it seems, by all its employees. As the Baltimore Sun reports, two former employees are suing the restaurant for unpaid wages, claiming that Woodberry’s policies violates the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Maryland Wage and Hour Law.
