McDonogh School is a community that finds joy in work, in play, in discovery, and in the realization of personal potential. Strong, mutually respectful relationships inspire a passion for teaching and learning, a dedication to personal integrity, and a commitment to excellence. Embracing diversity of background, culture, and thought, the school builds upon its founder’s original mission to provide life-altering opportunities and to develop in students the will “to do the greatest possible amount of good.”

Consistent with the Park School philosophy, character development is an essential component of our athletics program. Our physical education classes and interscholastic teams strive to teach basic skills, produce confident, conscientious, and ethical athletes, and encourage a lifetime model for fitness and health.
Step into Friends’ Lower School library and you’ll find it’s the kind of place you want to stay awhile. The wide sunlit windows, the inviting low-slung brightly colored chairs, and our gregarious librarians who read with conviction to inquisitive students are just some of the reasons to linger. In this inviting setting, students cultivate a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
|Much more than just attending classes and doing homework, school is about people—sharing ideas, building community and finding connections with one another and the world around us. This sense of wonder and possibility—and fun!—is ever-present on the Friends campus. You’ll find it on the banks of Stony Run, where Pre-First children are releasing their pet turtle into the brook. It’s on the playing fields where fourth graders and Kindergartners are flying the kites they made earlier today. And it’s on the Upper School Quad, where seniors play a spirited game of doubles ping-pong during Morning Break. From book clubs to gardening; from interscholastic athletics to student government, Friends School life is rich with opportunities for self-discovery.|
