Americans have long idealized European style and fashion. Somehow over there, everything seems finer, more glamorous, and yet effortlessly elegant. But when is the last time you found a piece of clothing that looked great on and made you feel comfortable but sophisticated at the same time? Or an item that was well made from quality materials and also happened to be unique enough that you knew no one else might show up wearing the same thing? If it’s been a while, you may be happy to know that Chic Chic Boutique has just opened in the Village of Cross Keys—specializing in European designs that make women look and feel gorgeous. Owners Dario and Rosanna Sech have been working in fashion for years, and with their personal ties to Italy (where they emigrated from) they’re able to hand pick styles that you can’t find anywhere else (at least without taking a Roman holiday).
We all know that Harbor East is every fashion lover’s go-to spot for finding the newest, chicest trends. That’s why for three years now it’s been home to FashionEASTa—Baltimore’s ultimate style fête. That means a full day of in-store specials at some of Baltimore’s hottest shops. The specials go hand in hand with the centerpiece of the event: The FashionEASTa Fashion Show. It’s a high energy runway show featuring local celebrity models — like Baltimore Ravens’ cornerback Lardarius Webb, who will model looks from Under Armour Brand House — and spring’s newest looks. But unlike those fashion shows that leave you thinking, “well sure, but who’s going to actually wear that?” the looks showcased at FashionEASTA all come straight out of Harbor East shops. So they’re not only super fabulous, but you can run right out and purchase them for yourself that very day—which we should mention is Saturday, April 26th. Save it.
With so many bona fide cupcakeries in this city, it’s maybe necessary to note that Cupcake Boutique is not one of them. But that’s not to say that these ladies don’t have what you’re looking for. The super fly dress shop is overflowing with some of the freshest and spiciest fashion in town. And on Wednesday they’re throwing the doors wide open for a kick-off party benefiting Suited to Succeed—an organization that helps women to dress for achievement in the workplace. Show up for the event and they’ll help you achieve dressing well for any occasion, all while sipping on some bubbly, helping yourself to a few sweet treats, and hob-nobbing with some of the Baltimore Fashion Alliance glitterati.
It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without at least some mention of unmentionables. If your sexy Mrs. Claus nightie is feeling just a wee bit post-season at this point, it might be time for a stop into Polina’s Prive. We love Polina’s, because they love making women feel (and look) great. According to Polina, “a beautiful outfit, like a beautiful woman, begins with what’s on the inside.” Ah. A lingerie store you can trust. Plus, if you’re the type to be befuddled by sizing and measurements, leaving all that to seasoned professionals is absolutely the way to go.
You may not believe it, but spring will be here sooner than you know it. And as we all know, new seasons bring new wardrobes (if you’re doing it right). And after a long, cold winter of feeling like all anyone sees of you is your coat, your boots, and that same hat you’ve been wearing since your aunt crocheted it for you who-knows-how-long-ago, you’re probably already starting to get the springtime shopping itch. If you just can’t wait (and why should you?) you might consider swinging by Lime Blossom Boutique—the super cute shop that opened this past year. Plus, their month-long sale does a lot to justify getting a jump on spring shopping.
I don’t know about you, but all of this bundling up and continually relying on the same super warm pieces of clothing starts to feel like no matter how much time I spend getting ready for the day, it still looks to the outside world like I’m wearing my pajamas. Know the feeling? And besides, when most of what the world sees of you each day is last year’s winter coat, it’s easy to feel kind of wilted and drab, rather than like a sparkly snowflake. But of course, getting your inner snowflake back is always just a little retail therapy away. And you can make it happen today with some great deals at Brightside Boutique’s birthday sale.
